STUDIO C ARTISTS
Based in Los Angeles, Studio C Artists is a production, casting, and arts education company founded by director John Coppola and producer Michael Sonntag. The production unit focuses on film and television – primarily features, documentaries, scripted series, and web series. In addition, Studio C Artists develops projects for the stage, with the intention of working some of them into material for the screen. The Studio C Artists Acting & Filmmaking Institute is an all-encompassing acting studio, which offers a curriculum of acting classes, career-related seminars, and filmmaking workshops. The curriculum emphasizes The New Approach – a unique formula taught only at Studio C, which has been cultivated and perfected over the last 10 years. Studio C Artists’ clients range from up-and-coming actors to major film and television stars, and are represented by some of Hollywood’s busiest agents and managers.

John Coppola – Artistic Director
A native of Brooklyn, New York, John Coppola is a multi-talented director, producer, teacher and actor. John began his career attending C.W. Post’s Department of Theater and Film, Yale Drama’s Purple Crayon and various courses and workshops with Circle In The Square. John has taught and delivered lectures at C.W. Post University, SUNY Old Westbury, Dartmouth College, The Riverside Shakespeare Company, The Skyboat Road Company, HBO and UCLA’s Extension Program. John has performed in Broadway shows and national tours as well as numerous television shows and independent films. John also starred in his award winning one-man show entitled The DeVivo Variation, which was produced and filmed by the prestigious HBO Workspace. As a director, John has helmed over 25 theatrical productions in New York, Los Angeles and abroad. He won Best Director in the New York Film and Video Festival for his film Possibility. John currently lives in Los Angeles, where he recently finished directing the TV pilot Bourbon Street, co-founded Studio C Artists, and is preparing to direct a slate of independent feature films and documentaries.
Dean Donofrio – Assistant Artistic Director
Dean Donofrio is a writer. How wonderful for him. Dean has produced four shows on stage in Los Angeles, each featuring a collection of his original one-act plays — “Loose Change” in 2009, “Shut Your Stupid Face And Other Suggestions” in 2010, “Early Warning Signs” in 2011, and “Nothing Is Different But Everything Has Changed” in 2012. Most recently he directed a production of four of his plays at Studio C Artists called “Things People Do When They’re Desperate”. Having worked in both film and television, wearing many different hats, Dean’s primary goal is to receive money to write. He has recently been commissioned to adapt a book into a full-length play called “Smithville”, and has two feature screenplays in development, “6 Figures” written with Matt Harry, and “Whack Job”.
Michael Sonntag – Producer
Michael Sonntag is a producer, casting director, and acting coach. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Michael began his career producing local evening news for NBC, after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. He has worked both in front of and behind the camera, in a wide range of positions – most recently casting the feature films, Styria and Nephilim, as well as a number of commercials for clients such as Disney, TV Land, NFL Networks, and the U.S. Army. Michael has also worked as the casting director and line producer on the television series, Bourbon Street, for Rampart Entertainment. His other producing credits include Co-Producer on award-winning director Vince DiPersio’s acclaimed feature documentary, Truth In Terms Of Beauty, and Associate Producer & UPM on Semper Fi: One Marine’s Journey, for Showtime. His next project, the romantic comedy, Detour, is slated for production in 2014. Prior to producing, Michael held the title of Director of Development for Shakrah Films, after working for many years as an actor in Hollywood. One of the founding partners of Studio C Artists, Michael currently teaches acting classes to both kids and adults, and offers private coaching.
Alex Nicholas – Stage Manager
Alex has done so many shows at Studio C Artists as Stage Manager that he has almost lost count. He’s happy to be working yet again with them on this latest production!
Brian Cole – H&H Design Experience – Set Designer
H&H Design Experience was created by Brian Cole and Heather Simmons Combs. Heather Simmons Combs is the money brain and painter of all things color. Brian Cole has been a sets fabricator for over 30 years in the Southern California area. Brian proves to be resourceful and imaginative during a set design and construct. H&H Design firmly believes in using recyclable or recycled products when designing and building. Brian exhibits diverse knowledge of materials and fasteners to facilitate unique and challenging design constructs. Brian also works with high school programs teaching safe set building and technical direction. His goal is to become an integral part of teaching young minds the processes and procedures of design and safe theatrical practices.
